Tim on the path to glory

Mortlake rider Tim O’Brien will contest three rounds of the Michelin Junior Development Super X Series.

MORTLAKE youngster Tim O’Brien has been a prominent motorbike rider since taking up the sport.
Today, 14 year-old Tim will load his 250cc Honda on the back of his parent’s vehicle and head to Canberra to compete in the Monster Energy Super X Michelin Junior Development Series.
The Canberra event will be held on Saturday, with Tim to have practice sessions, qualifying positions and a night final against 21 other competitors.
Tim said he had to qualify for the competition by attending a coaching day at Broadford Super X track.
“I feel privileged – I am the only junior rider from across the south west to qualify,” he said.
Tim will have little time to rest on his laurels. On November 27 he will go to Sydney and seven days later it’s on to Brisbane for his third and final round of the championships.
Tim is now stepping up to this higher level where he has to compete in the Super X class.
His father, Ian, said the family is seeking some help with sponsorship.
“We are grateful for the assistance Westvic Tyres provides but it would be appreciated if more sponsorship came our way,” Mr O’Brien said.
