Learning business lessons

Come inside: Western Victoria Livestock Exchange manager Tim Nowell will take small business owners and other interested community members on a tour of the Mortlake facility next Monday, as part of the 2018 Great South Coast Small Business Festival.

SMALL business owners will receive a first-hand glance into the behind-the-scenes operation of the Western Victoria Livestock Exchange (WVLX) at Mortlake next Monday.

As part of the 2018 Great South Coast Small Business Festival, WVLX manager Tim Nowell will provide a unique perspective into how he helps run the business.

Starting with a look at how the weekly prime sale operates, he said it will be an opportunity for small business owners to understand all aspects of the sale.

“I will explain the sale process, what our staff does and some safety features,” Mr Nowell said.

“I will touch on some of my experiences in other industries.”

Participants will then have the opportunity to ask him questions during an informal session at the site’s cafe.

Mr Nowell said he aims to inform small business owners about creating a strong team of employees.

“You’re only as good as your weakest link,” he said.

The free event will run on Monday, August 13 from 9am until 11am.

For more information or to register to attend, visit the event’s Eventbrite page or contact Moyne Shire Council economic development officer Loren Tuck on 0423 181 045 or loren.tuck@moyne.vic.gov.au.
