New Woorndoo netball facilities near completion

Taking shape: Woorndoo’s new netball hub at the Woorndoo Recreation Reserve is set for completion in mid-November, with the roof and main internal structure now in place.

WOORNDOO’S new netball facilities are taking shape, with the basic internal structure and roofing now installed.

Moyne Shire Council director of infrastructure and environment Trevor Greenberger said while the construction was initially slated for completion this month, delays had pushed back finalisation to mid-November.

“Following an initial delay with delivery of the shed, works have been progressing well on the Woorndoo netball facilities,” he said.

“With plastering and painting to be done during October, all works are expected to be completed around mid-November.

“A date for the initial opening of the new facilities is yet to be determined.”

Plans for the new building include new shower and toilet facilities, change rooms for both home and away teams and a first aid room.

The State Government contributed $80,000 towards the $155,000 project through its Female Friendly Facilities grants program in 2017, with the council allocating $40,000 in its 2015/16 budget towards the upgrades, with the further $35,000 raised via community efforts.
