Another tough round for Bombers

IT was another tough round for Cobden’s senior footballers with an 11.10.76 to 4.10.34 loss at the Cobden Community Bank Recreation Reserve on Saturday.

After an even first quarter, North Warrnambool took control of the game to run out seven goal winners.

Cobden had four individual goal kickers, including a first goal at senior level to Edmund Walsh.

Best for the Bombers were Sam Lucas, Sam Thow, Grady Rooke and Gus Walsh.

This Saturday Cobden will take on Warrnambool at the Reid Oval.

In the reserves, North Warrnambool had a 9.5.59 to 6.4.40 win.

Best for Cobden were Jordan Beard, Noah Sinnott and Kayden Daffy; Daffy the Bombers only multiple goal kicker with two.

In under 18 football, North Warrnambool was too strong, winning 10.9.69 to 4.4.28.

Oscar Norman kicked two goals and was named as Cobden’s best alongside Ollie Rial and Edward Delaney.

The other junior football matches were played under lights at North Warrnambool’s Bushfield home on Friday night.

North Warrnambool was too strong in the under 16s with an 18.8.116 to 3.2.20 win.

Lenny Walsh, Rusty Ponting and Broly Henderson were Cobden’s best.

North Warrnambool had a big win in the under 14 match, 9.8.62 to 1.2.8.

Henry Dart, Xander Kent and Jack Couch were best for the Bombers.

There was no match for the under 12 Bombers last weekend.

A dominant second half led Cobden to a 51-27 win in the Open netball match.

Up by six goals at half time, the Bombers piled on 30 goals to 12 in the last two quarters.

The win was the Bombers fourth in a row, and has them fourth on the ladder after six rounds.

Lara Taylor, Sophie Blain and Jessica McGlade were Cobden’s best, with Grace Taylor scoring 28 goals and Sophie Hinkley 23.

Cobden scored a 38-26 win in division one netball.

Best for the Bombers were Macey Hicks, Jessica Bouchier and Jessica Walsh; Bouchier scoring 28 goals and Hannah Anderson 10.

North Warrnambool had a 37-26 win in division two with Hailey Mahony scoring 21 goals.

Leah Dickson, Kayla Hunter and Courtney Gatens were Cobden’s best.

Cobden went down in the division three game 30-19; Tayla Hickey and Rebecca Foster scoring nine goals each.

Georgia Darcy, Sophie Hickey and Tayla Hickey were best for the Bombers.

The 17 and under match saw a big win to North Warrnambool, 58-16.

Emily Hickey scored nine goals, with Matilda Anderson, Emily Hickey and Marley Howard best for Cobden.

North Warrnambool had a strong win in the 17 and under reserves, 34-13.

Marley Howard scored seven goals and was named Cobden’s best alongside Hannah Robertson and Isabella Wain.

Cobden took out the 15 and under netball 20-17.

Ava Bonner scored 15 goals and Isabella Wain five for the Bombers.

Best for the team were Sarah Bridges, Zaya Howard and Martha Andrew.

Cobden had a good win in the 15 and under reserves, 22-17.

Ava Bonner shot 13 goals and Chloe Anderson seven, with Anderson, Gracie Pearce and Charlotte Dean best for the Bombers.

North Warrnambool got the points in the 13 and under netball, 39-23.

Bridie Roberts, Charlotte Dean and Katie Hansford were best for the Bombers – Dean scoring 14 goals and Olivia Bignell eight.

The 13 and under reserves match saw Cobden take the win, 22-7.

Charlotte Robertson, Amelia Katsaros and Mahli Baxter were the Bombers best, with Katsaros scoring 12 goals and Emma Bonner eight.
