Mr Bradshaw – who died earlier this year – founded the event 52 years ago, which continues to run at the St Paul’s Church hall on Church Street.

Camperdown Hospital Auxiliary president Ian Currell said the opening ceremony would recognise Mr Bradshaw’s dedication to the auxilary’s fundraiser which is now in its 48th year.

“Mr Bradshaw was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in 2009 for his services to art and fundraising for the hospital,” Mr Currell said.

“All proceeds from the art shows went to the hospital, so we wanted to recognise that.

“He was an art teacher at Camperdown High before it became Camperdown College in the 60s and 70s.

“When he stopped teaching, he became an art broker, dealer and collector.

“Over the years, we’ve raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the hospital, which has been really significant and was why he was ultimately awarded the OAM.”

Mr Bradshaw organised 80 fundraising exhibitions for various causes in addition to the Camperdown Hospital, including Cooinda, Lismore and Cobden hospitals, Rotary Club of Grovedale, Lorne District Hospital, the Anglesea Cancer Council unit, Warrnambool Regional Art Gallery and the Colac Historical Society.

In addition to his OAM, Mr Bradshaw was also awarded Life Governorship with Camperdown Hospital, a Cooinda Service Award, a Paul Harris International Award with Grovedale Rotary Club, a Cancer Council Service Award and a Federal Government Volunteers Services Award.

Mr Currell said the exhibition would open on Friday, September 5 at 6.30pm and run on Saturday, September 6 and Sunday, September 7 between 10am and 3pm.

Entry for opening night is $50 per person and drinks and canapes are included in the ticket price.

Mr Currell encouraged residents to bring their families along to the exhibition.

“The Sunday is Father’s Day, so we get a few people who bring along their dads and create a special memory on Father’s Day,” he said.

“Art is supplied by two dealers – one of whom is Andrew Miller who is an ex Camperdown resident who now lives in Ballarat.

“The other one is Doug Kane, and he’s from Gippsland.”

Tickets for opening night can be purchased at the door on the night or online at www.trybooking.com/events/landing/145292.
