An eight goal second quarter paved the way for the Bloods 24.14.158 to 6.6.42 victory at the Terang Recreation Reserve.

“It was one of those days,” Terang Mortlake coach Lewy Taylor said.

“We played pretty well and it all sort of clicked, we came out and played a good four quarter effort and just kept the foot down, which was good.”

After missing the last six matches, Xavier Vickers made an impact in his return, gathering 34 disposals, 10 tackles and kicking three goals.

“Xav was really good, probably one of his best games for the year.

“He’s had a bit of a layoff so he was keen to get back out there and play well which he certainly did.”

Taylor also had praise for teenager Josh Slater, who kicked three goals and was named in the Bloods best.

“Josh just plays his role really well and was able to get on the end of a couple this week, which was good.

“He’s been very consistent the whole year.”

Will Kain led the goal kickers with six, with Jackson Paine also kicking three.

“Will’s really hitting his straps at the right time of the year, him and Jackson are really playing some good footy together.”

Taylor continued his strong season with a 39 possession effort featuring 15 kicks, 24 handballs and two goals.

The ever consistent Ryley Hutchins had 31 disposals, Joe Arundell 30, Ned Roberts 26 and Gus Bourke 25.

This Saturday’s highly anticipated match sees Terang Mortlake take on the undefeated North Warrnambool at Bushfield.

“It will be a challenge for sure,” Taylor said.

“We got done by 12 points there last year, so hoping we can go a bit better this year, it will be a tough contest.”

The reserves match saw Hamilton record a 5.9.39 to 4.3.27 victory.

Jake Crawley, Matthew Baxter, Harvey Roberts, Matty Arundell, Cameron Goddard and Will Berryman were best for Terang Mortlake in the loss, with Darcy Abbott kicking two goals.

In the under 18s, Hamilton scored a 12.12.84 to 3.2.20 win.

Best for the Bloods were Caleb Bamford, Zavier Fowler, Jack Farrell, Cooper Herry and Liam McGinness, with Fowler kicking two goals.

Terang Mortlake are through to the semi-finals after a 5.4.34 to 1.5.11 win over North Warrnambool in the under 14 football elimination final at the Leura Oval on Sunday.

Liam Kenna, Oliver Clarke, Bradley Wallace, Darcy Meade, Leo Slater and Nate Irving were best for the Bloods in the win, with Kenna kicking two goals and one each to Meade, Irving and Braxton Sachs.

This Sunday the under 14 Bloods play Hamilton in the first semi-final at Terang.
