Camperdown Magpies back in flight

CAMPERDOWN Magpies Bowling Club’s division one pennant team returned to the winners’ list last Saturday.


The team celebrated a hard-fought win over finals hopefuls, Colac, 85-81.

Tonight the Magpies take on the undefeated Winchelsea under lights at Winchelsea.

The match will start at 6pm and with the home side bringing in two Australian representatives for a one-off game, and the Magpies welcoming Premier League player Daniel Langdon to the nest, it should be an interesting game.

Last Saturday Brad Errock’s rink of Jamie Norton, Darren Coverdale and Taj Merrett got back on the winners’ list with a 25-19 win over Tim Hassett’s rink.

Ron Cameron’s rink of Craig Skene, Kel Rundle and James Henry played a 19-shots all draw with Will Colliehole’s rink.

Luke Wright’s rink of David Bateman, Len Searle and Kell Edwards continued their good form with a 28-15 win over Jai Whitson’s rink.

Matty Brewer’s rink of Chris Pearson, Barry Atchison and Jack Paasse went down to Heath McLaren’s rink 13-28.

Division one teams for tonight at Winchelsea:

The manager will be Luke Wright and the bus will leave at 4pm.

Camperdown Magpies division two (2) team continued its unbeaten start to the season with a 121-69 win over Apollo Bay.

Fred Salmon’s rink of Maria Van Someren, Kevin Russell and Greg Edwards continued their great form with a 23-19 win over George Harrison’s rink.

Michael Brebner’s rink of Leanne Fitzgerald, John O’Donohue and Brad Wilson had a close one when they drew with Andrew Couch’s rink 20-20.

Paul Richard’s rink of John Molan, Greg Molan and Keira Johnston had a good win over Brian Kent’s rink, 35-14.

Peter Reilly’s rink of Andrew Anderson, Les Pearson and Greg Teal were the star team of the day with a 43-16 win over Sandra Kent’s rink.

Tomorrow division two (2) start the second round with a home game against Cobden 1 who currently sit third on the ladder so a tough game is expected.

Division two (3) played second-placed Lorne at the Golf Green last Saturday and showed they are a force to be reckoned with, playing a 96-shot all draw.

Ian Henderson’s rink of Lud Gungl, Trey Darcy and Mick Mahony lost to Brad Weetman’s rink 20-24.

Chris McLeod’s rink of Graeme Chamberlain, Kerry Henderson and Ron Simcox went down to Leigh McIlvenny’s rink 20-31.

Glenn Winsall’s rink of Mark Winsall, Daryl O’Donohue and Nic Salagari were the standout team on the day with a 31-14 win over Peter Jacob’s rink.

Stan Adeney’s rink of Algie White and Harry Van Someren lost to Sheryl Donne’s rink 25-27.

Tomorrow Magpies (3) take on Cressy at the Golf complex and a win could see them replace Cressy in sixth on the ladder.

The Magpies division three team made it two consecutive wins with a 90-67 victory over Colac Central.

Paul Brebner’s rink of Janet Molan, Sam Whytcross and Gerard Broderick went down to Edward Ivermee’s rink 12-18.

Darren Page’s rink of Steve Lucas, Rene Wyles and Noelene Tolland played well all day to defeat Adrian Tesselaar’s rink 28-12.

Ron Absalom’s rink of John Salau, Pam Atchison and Sophie Pearson continued their good form with a 32-10 win over Len Armistead’s rink.

Tom Hose’s rink of Paul Halloran, Trish Taylor and Donna Watts went down to Kevin Arundell’s rink 18-27.

Tomorrow division three will be at home at Thornton Street to second-placed Colac 3 in what should be a close encounter.

The Magpies division four team travelled to Winchelsea and put up a great effort against the undefeated side, going down 52-72.

Marg Stephen’s rink of Barney Dickson, Deb Noonan and Xavier Crabbe went down to Ross Erwin’s rink 16-19.

Peter James’ rink of Pip Robertson, Pat Scott and Ruth Skene lost to Ray O’Brien’s rink 17-27.

Bert Sloetjes rink of Gordon Weller, Norma Weller and Andrew Whiteside went down to Colin Williams’ rink 19-26.

Tomorrow division four are at home (Thornton Street) to Cobden 3 and can hopefully have their first win of the season.

In division one midweek last Tuesday, the Magpies travelled to take on Cobden.

They came home with an 84-54 win which moved them to second place on the ladder.

Peter Reilly’s rink of Barry Atchison, Ian Henderson and Janet Molan had a close game all day, finally winning 23-21 over Sue Couch’s rink.

Craig Skene’s rink of Fred Salmon, John O’Donohue and Kel Edwards had a big 34-16 win over Ann Scott’s rink.

Maria Van Somerens rink of Len Searle, Michael Brebner and Greg Edwards completed the trifecta with a 27-17 win over Janelle Rohan’s rink.

Next Tuesday the Magpies will be home (Thornton Street) to Colac Central.

A win would see them consolidate second spot on the ladder.

Division two mid-week travelled to take on the winless Birregurra and came home with a 21 shot win which saw them slot into fourth on the ladder.

Ron Simcox’s rink of Les Pearson, Pam Atchison and Brad Wilson continued their great form with a 33-11 win over Lorraine Battyre’s rink.

Stan Adeney’s rink of Noel Brebner, Kerry Henderson and Noelene Tolland also had a good win, defeating Brian Walker’s rink 31-20.

Barb Boyd’s rink of Tim Spokes, Rene Wyles and Elaine Waterfall went down to Janelle Edward’s rink 16-28.

Next Tuesday division two will travel once again, this time to take on Lorne in what will be a tough encounter for the Magpies.

Barb Boyd will be the manager and Stan Adeney will drive the bus, leaving at 8am.

In division three the Magpies travelled to take on Colac 4 and finished off a good day with a 68-52 win.

Division three is also in second spot on the ladder.

Peter James’ rink of Gordon Weller, Val Coverdale and Deb Noonan had a good win over William Winchcomb’s rink 27-12.

Norma Weller’s rink of Donna Watts, Pat Scott and Ray Bourke controlled their rink to defeat Barbara Panther’s rink 23-16.

Marg Stephens’ rink of Carol Wilson, Ruth Skene and Kathy banks lost to Maurice Middleton’s rink 18-25.

Next Tuesday division three will be at home to Cobden who are currently sitting in fourth spot on the ladder.
