Celebrating 100 days of schooling
THE youngest learners in the district’s schools seemed much older than normal last Friday as they marked a special educational milestone.

Prep students at Camperdown College and Derrinallum P-12 College dressed up as 100-year-olds to celebrate 100 days of learning, a major milestone for the young students.
Camperdown College Prep teacher Grace Coker said the students looked “absolutely wonderful” in their outfits, with a number of activities held to celebrate their milestone.
“The day began with a certificate presentation attended by our wonderful Prep families,” she said.
“Ms (Vicki) Angus and Mrs (Jacinta) Tolland proudly presented each student with a certificate to commemorate this incredible achievement, while our senior campus school captains Zack Regan and Charlie Londregan presented each student with a special personalised badge, making it a memorable moment for both students and their families.
“Following the presentation, families joined the Prep students for a range of fun and creative 100-themed activities, celebrating just how far the students have come since their very first day of school.
“After recess, the celebrations continued with a special visit to the kindergarten to show off their creative 100-year-old costumes and to finish the day, students enjoyed a festive 100th day party complete with delicious shared treats, music, dancing and plenty of laughter.
“They were also joined by their beloved Year Six buddies, who helped them create beautiful crowns to wear to assembly.”

Derrinallum P-12 College Prep – One teacher Chloe O’Brien said she was pleased to see the 100 days celebration beginning to become an annual tradition at the school.
“This is our fourth year doing the 100 days of school, but it’s a really good opportunity to recognise the time they’ve spent here and make it a great milestone for them,” she said.
“We’ve got so many great outfits this year, which has been really good.
“We’ve had colouring in and a number of other activities throughout the day.
“We’ve hidden 100 different Ellie the Elephant (school mascot) pictures for them to go and find, and then after break they had a treasure hunt outside to go and find 100 notes to make up $100.”
Ms O’Brien said the students have been settling in well to school life.
“They’ve had a great first few terms of school, and they’ve enjoyed it,” she said.
“The smaller classes make it really nice – they’ve got lots of small group activities going on.”
