NAPLAN refers to the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy, which is an annual test for students in Years Three, Five, Seven and Nine to track progress in key literacy and numeracy areas.

Camperdown College senior campus assistant principal Katie Taylor said she was pleased to announce the students had received awards from Minister for Education Jason Clare for their strong results in the national assessment.

“These Certificates of Achievement are given to students who have demonstrated high growth or have achieved ‘exceeding’ standard in numeracy and reading,” she said.

“They are designed to celebrate and recognise the importance of both excellence and learning growth of students across the state and is a highly coveted prize.

“Each one of our recipients have their own individual reasons for being proud of their own achievement in receiving the award.

“NAPLAN results are just one way in which Camperdown College assesses student learning and growth.

“Each student is known by their teachers, meaning they too celebrate these successes as they see the work being done behind the scenes to help ensure all students can be successful.”

Olivia Halliday, Charlie Unwin, Stirling Collins, Tyler Daffy, Kate Gunina and Mia Gunina were among those recognised.

Rounding out the list of students presented with Certificates of Achievement were Abey McLachlan, Maya Smith, Isla Spokes, Marianne Suson, Amber Wallis and Emily Wood.

“These students will be formally recognised in our celebration of learning assembly later in the term but have already received a warm round of applause at our weekly senior campus assembly run by our student leaders,” Ms Taylor said.

“As a school, we can compare our Year Nine NAPLAN data to our Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) study results as students move through the college, thus mapping the continued learning growth of students throughout their secondary school journey.

“Congratulations to these students, and we are incredibly proud of their results.”
