Close results for table tennis

AT the half-way mark of the Terang table tennis season there is now no unbeaten team.

I Don’t Care has been impacted by illness over the last fortnight and at this stage TIC and Rhino’s sit in the top two spots with just the one loss.

TIC had a 7-4 win against Battlers with Colin Venn, Tyler Smith and Ian Rochfort winning two singles each.

Mark Smith flew the flag for Battlers, winning all his singles and a doubles.

Rhino’s were too strong for I Don’t Care winning 9-2 and while the score reads as a rout, this wasn’t the case.

I Don’t Care was missing its number one player and Michael Pearson moved up to play both doubles.

They lost five rubbers in either the fourth or fifth game.

Both doubles matches went to five games, with Rhino’s winning both.

Rhinos’ Tony Young won all his singles while Ganga Ayral and John Rantall won two singles.

Michael Pearson won two singles and took a game off Tony Young.

Ladder: TIC 16, Rhino’s 16, I Don’t Care 12, Ghanda 12, Battlers 4.
