All finals were recently played on the one night, with some good contests in all three matches.

Along with TIC going back-to-back, two stalwarts of the association were nominated for Life Memberships after the finals.

Top side Tio Maina prevailed over the Saints in the first of the semi-finals.

Trevor McDowell won both his singles, Michael Pearson won two singles and, surprisingly, they lost their doubles match in five hard fought games 11-8, 13-15, 11-7, 10-12, 6-11 to Callum McSween and Ron Cook.

Peter Maina won a singles and combined with Trevor to win the doubles in four games.

Callum McSween won two singles for the Saints.

TIC defeated Youngsters 7-3 in their semi-final where every game was closely fought.

Tyler Smith’s win against Tony Young proved decisive towards the end result; he won 11-6, 7-11, 11-8, 12-10.

Tyler had a standout night, winning all his singles.

Colin Venn, who had lost to Vesha Campagai earlier in the season, was able to grind out a win in four games 11-6, 12-14, 11-9, 14-12.

He also defeated Billy Baker and won the second doubles with Ian Rochfort which saw them across the line.

Ian won one singles for the night and pushed Tony and Vesha in his other matches.

After just managing to make the finals, TIC took on Tio Maina.

Having only won three of their eight matches of the season, it all came together in the finals.

The first round of singles matches saw Ian lose to Trevor in three games.

Colin had a hard battle against Michael Pearson, winning in the fifth game 11-9, 11-13, 11-8, 4-11, 11-6.

Tyler played Peter and won in straight games.

The doubles between Colin/Tyler and Trevor/Michael saw the latter pairing winning 11-9, 13-11, 6-11, 12-10.

The next rotation of singles saw Tyler lose to Trevor in straight games.

Ian pushed Michael all the way, nearly causing a big upset going down by the narrowest of margins in the fifth, 8-11, 12-10, 11-4, 12-14, 9-11.

Colin had a good contest against Peter but prevailed in three games.

Ian and Peter’s match also went to five games, with Ian coming out in front 11-6, 11-8, 10-12, 8-11, 11-8.

Another titanic tussle in the doubles saw Colin and Ian triumph again in five games against Trevor and Peter in a match that ebbed and flowed where the two number threes more than held their own against the number ones.

Final score was 13-11, 7-11, 11-8, 7-11, 11-7.

While this match was being played, Tyler and Michael were on another table with Tyler winning in four games.

The AGM which followed saw Trevor McDowell take on the presidency and Pat Nicholson and Mark Smith were honoured for many years of contributing to the association holding down a variety of executive positions.

In September the pair will be able to celebrate with family, friends and players of the association at a meal out in Terang.
