Decorations pop up in Cobden
COBDEN’S main street has officially caught the Christmas spirit thanks to a vibrant new display of oversized festive baubles installed along Curdie Street by Progressing Cobden.

The eye-catching decorations, which appeared last week, have already begun turning heads and drawing smiles from locals and visitors alike.
Designed to add colour, joy and a sense of celebration to the heart of town, the large baubles are part of Progressing Cobden’s broader push to create a more festive, welcoming streetscape this Christmas.
Progressing Cobden president Misty Angus said the installation was about lifting the town’s atmosphere and encouraging everyone to get involved in celebrating the season.
“Christmas is such an important time for connection in small communities like ours,” she said.
“These big baubles are about creating excitement in the town and encouraging people to come in, shop locally and enjoy the festive feeling together.”
Progressing Cobden is also encouraging local businesses to join in by adding Christmas lights and decorating the trees outside their shops, helping to create a fully lit, festive streetscape throughout Curdie Street.
“If every business adds a little sparkle to their tree, Cobden will truly shine this Christmas,” Ms Angus said.
“It’s a simple way for everyone to be part of the magic.”
The display also links with Progressing Cobden’s popular lucky baubles fundraising campaign, where community members can purchase a bauble which is added to a Christmas tree display.
A winning bauble will be drawn at the Christmas at Tandarook event on Sunday, December 21, with funds raised going directly back into local community projects.
Local traders have welcomed the street decorations, saying the cheerful display adds to the festive atmosphere and helps attract Christmas shoppers into town.
The large baubles will remain in place throughout the festive season, building excitement in the lead-up to Christmas at Tandarook on December 21, which is expected to draw families and visitors for an afternoon of Christmas fun and community celebration.
Progressing Cobden thanked the volunteers and supporters who helped bring the project to life and encouraged residents to take a stroll down Curdie Street, enjoy the decorations and soak up the Christmas spirit.
