The Roosters led at every change to run out 15.10.100 to 10.11.71 winners at Friendlies Society Park.

“It was disappointing, we felt that we had patches where we were in a position where we could’ve taken the game by the scruff of the neck a bit more,” Camperdown coach Clinton Thomas said.

“From that end it wasn’t that we were outplayed as so much we didn’t play to our full four quarter potential.”

Charlie Lucas and Josh Place were best for Camperdown in the loss.

“Both those boys, the tougher the conditions or the tougher the game, the more they rise to the occasion.

“They were both sensational.”

Zach Sinnott led Camperdown’s disposal getters with 37 including 17 kicks and 20 handballs.

“Zach accumulated very well.

“He’s obviously on the radar of the opposition so he’s getting close attention each week and he’s learning how to play with that and still be competitive and impact the game with more and more attention coming each week.”

Charlie Lucas ended with 21 possessions, Josh Place 19, Darcy Vick 18 and Luke O’Neil 17.

Dom Absalom gathered 15 disposals, but it was his match high nine tackles that drew praise from his coach.

“Dom’s a fierce competitor around the contest, he hunts the ball around the stoppage better than most.

“To see Dom actively work around the contest for that second and third contest after a stoppage, that’s a real strength of Dom’s and his tackle count shows it.”

Fraser Lucas was the leading goalkicker for the Magpies with three goals amidst a busy 24 hours.

“He had his second born the day before, so he wasn’t coming in with a lot of sleep.

“It was actually his birthday too so he rocked in a bit late, but with everything considered that was to be expected.”

Tomorrow’s game sees Camperdown host Portland at Leura Oval.

“Portland has a great list and they’ve got a lot to play for, so it will be a tough ask this week.”

The reserves match saw South Warrnambool score a 13.14.92 to 1.1.7 win.

Paddy Baker, Ethan Coates and Nick Jones were Camperdown’s best in the loss, with Jones kicking the only goal for the second week in a row.

South Warrnambool had a 14.14.98 to 4.0.24 win in the under 18s.
