Final market a huge success
TIMBOON held its final maker’s and farmer’s market for the season on Easter Saturday, which was highlighted with a special visit from the Easter bunny.

The Power Creek reserve green was packed with over 40 market stalls and a huge crowd on Saturday, April 4 as the community from far and wide came together for the last market of the season in Timboon.
The event was extra special as not only did the Easter bunny come to visit, but there was also a scavenger hunt for Easter eggs which ended at Little Bit of Sweet where children could pick up a winning Easter egg for completing the challenge.
“Everyone came out for the day – it was beautiful,” Timboon Action secretary Leeanne Whitehead said.
“It went really well, there was a moving crowd that came in and just enjoyed the music, the festivities and the free activities for the children – it was just brilliant, we were really pleased.
“Our president Enid O’Connor organised a scavenger hunt just to give the families and the children something to do, that was throughout the town, they had objectives they had to do, and then they came back to Little Bit of Sweet and received an Easter egg at the end so that was a bit of fun for the day.”
There was live music playing throughout the day, with one special guest putting on a fantastic show for the crowd.
“We had Tamara Gunn and Peter Sharp who entertained us with live music all day and then the highlight of the entertainment was nine-year-old Stella Orero and she was on the ukulele,” Mrs Whitehead said.
“Stella’s only been playing for about ten months and she’s only nine, so she did a marvellous job, she’s a performer in the making and she did a fantastic job.
“It was great to have her there, she added to the atmosphere.
“We’ve had a number of young people play or sing at markets through the season and it’s just been absolutely wonderful.
“Sarah Pender from Timboon IGA held a stall for the children with lots of activities to keep them busy as well.”
Mrs Whitehead thanked everyone who has been involved in the markets across the season.
“We’d like to thank everyone that has supported the market over the season – the stallholders and all the locals and visitors that have come through,” she said.
“Also those that volunteer their time – we’ve had a wonderful season and to finish off the way we did on Saturday was just marvellous.
“The next market will be the second Sunday in October so we’ve got a few months now to have a break and then we’ll be back into it all again.”
Up next for Timboon Action is their annual Anzac service, which this year will be held at the Timboon Recreation Reserve.
“We’re going to start assembling for a march at 7.15am,” Mrs Whitehead said.
“It’ll go in the same format as normal – we’ll march off at 7.30am and then we’ll march around the oval and then we’ll have a commemorative service down in front of the flagpole in front of the club rooms.
“That will be completed by 8.20am in time for the football and the netball to start.
“We’re sort of doing a little bit of an AFL game, but it’s a once-off because Anzac Day falls on Saturday so we’re making the most of the opportunity to involve people up there.
“Timboon Opportunity Shop will support us financially for Jimmy Davis from the Fat Cow to cook an egg and bacon breakfast for us.
“It’ll be great and we’ll do a great commemoration for all those fallen in the war.”
