Illness affects player availability
TERANG Table Tennis Association’s round seven matches were much closer due to winter sicknesses affecting player availability.
Tio Mania defeated I Don’t Care 7-4 however, this result could have gone the other way.
In the doubles Trevor McDowell and sub Ian Rochfort defeated Mark Smith and John Rantall 1-7, 7-11, 11-3, 7-11, 11-7.
The contest of the night saw Mark Smith push Trevor McDowell to the end in a very evenly contested match to go down narrowly 11-13, 11-7, 9-11, 11-7, 9-11.
This singles victory for Trevor gave him three wins for the night, along with single wins to Ian and Michael Pearson.
Mark and sub Tyler Smith won two singles each.
Youngsters defeated Saints 6-5 with the wins being spread though the team.
Tony Young and Vesha Chapagai won two singles and combined to win the doubles.
Sub John Rantall won the other match to round out the six wins.
Saints’ Callum McSween won his three singles and a doubles with Shai Karney, with Ron Cook winning a hard fought match against sub Ian Rochfort 7-11, 12-10, 9-11, 13-11, 11-4.
Ladder: Timo Mania 24, Youngsters 20, I Don’t Care 16, TIC 16 and Saints 8.
