Lions on the move

THE Corangamite Lions division one men’s team has moved into fourth place after a 4-3 win over third placed Vikings FC.

The round 17 match at the Camperdown Showgrounds was the Lions’ last home game for the season.

Striker Roman Fachetti opened the scoring with a 10th minute goal.

Vikings then hit the lead with goals in the 39th and 52nd minutes.

Sandro Cooiman equalised for the Lions in the 64th minutes before Vikings took the lead again with a 77th minute goal.

Matthew Lyne scored again for Corangamite two minutes later to make it a 3-3 game.

Fachetti scored the winner in the 87th minute, his 15th goal of the season.

The Lions play their final round game this Sunday against seventh-placed Ballarat at Trekardo Park.

The Lions’ division one women had a 5-1 loss.

Lenise Mantell scored the Lions goal in the 35th minute, her seventh of the season.

The Lions women sit in seventh place with a game to play.

In the division two men’s match, Vikings scored a 3-1 win.

Aaron Corrigan scored the Lions goal in the 58th minute.

The division two Lions also sit in seventh place with a game to play.

Corangamite’s under 12 team had a 4-0 loss to Victoria Park, also at the Camperdown Showgrounds.

The first time the teams met in the season Victoria Park won 14-0, showing the improvement of the junior Lions.

The under 12s play their final game of the season on Sunday against Bacchus Marsh Gold at the Bacchus Marsh Racecourse Reserve.
