The Rotary Club of Terang and Corangamite Shire Council will proudly present the Terang Community Concert on Friday, October 17 from 7pm at the Terang Civic Hall.

Rotary Club of Terang member Paul Blain said the concert had been funded through a shire grant which aimed to support communities through the drought.

“There was an opportunity through Corangamite Shire Council to get a grant for $2000,” he said.

“The idea was to use the funding for a community grant – I was talking to Mary Bell, the wife of a musician in town, and because we’re in amongst the music lot we had the concept to bring music to the hall with the funding.

“Any money raised will go straight to the Drought Relief Appeal.

“It’s nice and cheap, just $10-per-head, so get in here and listen to some music.”

Mr Blain said he had been blown away with the support from the community since the event was announced, with no shortage of residents wanting to show their support for farmers doing it tough.

“Even with the bit of rain we’ve had, there’s still a drought,” he said.

“They’ve got to get that much hay off these paddocks now but it’s not even going to top off their hay sheds.

“The response has been really good – I’m even getting phone calls from people saying they’re coming just to support the farmers.”

Local musicians set to take the stage include Still Misbehavin’, Flamin’ 80s, RE-SPIN, Tommy Harrold, Julie and Rob Stewart-Murray and more.

Mr Blain will MC the night, providing entertainment between musicians.

“We’ll be setting tables up and we encourage everyone to bring their own food, their own drinks and just sit back and enjoy the night,” he said.

“As far as farmers, any we see coming in we won’t be charging.

“We encourage them to bring along the family.”

Entry is $10 with all proceeds to support drought relief.
