Coming in strong: Trains on the Warrnambool line met both punctuality and reliability performance targets during March.

For the second time in 2025, the Warrnambool Line exceeded both punctuality and reliability targets last month.

Of the 279 services that ran on the Warrnambool Line during March, 98.9 per cent were delivered – exceeding the 96 per cent reliability target.

The 92 per cent punctuality target was also exceeded, with 93 per cent of services arriving at their destination on time.

A V/Line spokesperson said line upgrades which facilitated the introduction of VLocity trains had been a catalyst for the heightened performance.

“The Warrnambool Line exceeded both punctuality and reliability targets in March, with improved performance following the introduction of VLocity trains late last year,” the spokesperson said.

“All Warrnambool Line services are now running as reliable and accessible VLocity trains and passengers have more options to travel across the weekend, with a fifth return service introduced on Saturdays and Sundays.”

Coaches replaced trains on the Warrnambool Line from March 31 to April 13 while interim works were completed on the stabling yard at Warrnambool Station, allowing VLocity trains to be housed overnight and all services to run as VLocity trains.

Four extra weekend services on the Warrnambool Line commenced over the weekend, with new return services on Saturdays and Sundays adding to the extra services rolled out late last year.

Warrnambool Line passengers now have five daily services across weekdays and the weekend.
