MORE than 850,000 eligible containers have been returned through the Corangamite Shire container deposit scheme refund points.

Refund points were installed in Cobden, Timboon and Terang and were opened on November 1, 2023.

A TOMRA Cleanaway spokesperson said Corangamite Shire residents have “enthusiastically” embraced Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme.

“TOMRA Cleanaway is investigating additional opportunities in the Camperdown region to install a larger reverse vending machine kiosk, like the machines found at Colac Plaza and Homemaker Warrnambool, in the coming months,” the spokesperson said.

“This machine will help alleviate the pressure on the Cobden Golf Course RVM and provide residents of Corangamite Shire an even more accessible and convenient way to make their changes with CDS Vic.

“We encourage customers to download the CDS Vic West Zone app prior to visiting their local refund point, as the app allows you to check the live bin status of your nearest refund point, receive your refund digitally, and allows you to track your returns and check container eligibility.”

The Cobden Golf Course CFS Vic reverse vending machine has collected almost 240,000 eligible containers, and the Timboon point more than 260,000 eligible containers.

TOMRA Cleanaway currently has almost 150 refund points across the CDS Vic West Zone, with 180 refund points planned to be installed by August of 2024 when the scheme is fully rolled out.
