Slow down – school’s in

DRIVERS are being reminded to slow down around schools, with students returning to school for Term Four last week.

Corangamite Senior Sergeant Bill Caldow said the drivers were detected at the Leura Street and Brooke Street school zones.

“One was for 14 kilometres over the limit, and the other was for 15 kilometres over the limit,” he said.

“They’re 40 during the designated hours.

“We just ask people to respect the speed signs and, more importantly, the safety of children going to and from school.”

While some school zones are permanently 40 kilometres per hour, some have varied hours during drop-off and pick-up times.

For these areas, the speed limit is 40 between 8-9.30am and 2.30-4pm from Monday to Friday during the school term.
