Straight shooting for Constable

A 15 goal haul to Lismore/Derrinallum spearhead Lachie Constable was the major talking point after the Demon's comprehensive win over Caramut on Saturday.

"Surreal" was how Constable described his career best tally.

"It was an enjoyable day," he said.

Demons coach Alec Wiltshire enjoyed the performance of his key forward.

"His confidence was up, he marked absolutely everything and was hard to stop," Wiltshire said

Both Wiltshire and Constable praised Austin Humphrey for his delivery.

"I reckon Lachie owes Austin a beer or two, I'd say eight of his 15 goals were delivered on a silver platter by Austin," Wiltshire said.

"Aussie and I connect really well in the forward line, the chances of him hitting me with a great pass are always high" Constable added.

Constable leads the Mininera and District Football League goal kicking with 66 goals after 11 rounds and is on target to beat his best season tally of 82, achieved in 2024.

"Lachie kicked four points in a row early in the last quarter too, it could have been a bigger bag" Wiltshire said.

Constable, who played all of his junior football for Ballarat, is loving his time at Lismore/Derrinallum.

"I moved to Lismore for work and joined the Demons straight away."

"It's such an enjoyable, welcoming, family club."

For Constable, posting a big score is something not just limited to football.

The talented sportsman racked up 594 runs for the Lismore Cricket Club in the 2024/25 season, including scores of 233 and 152.

"Plenty of my footy mates play cricket at Lismore, it's an enjoyable club too, we have a lot of fun."

Constable is looking forward to the rest of the season, with Lismore/Derrinallum sitting second on the ladder.

"We put together a few more pieces over the off season, we are jelling well together."

"Anyone can win it out of the top three or four teams, if we can put it together I reckon we've got the team to be able to succeed."
