The 16.12.108 to 7.7.49 win wasn’t enough to earn a finals berth, with Tatyoon sealing fifth place with a 61 point win over Moyston/Willaura.

The Tigers finished the season in sixth place, two points behind Tatyoon, albeit with Woorndoo/Mortlake having a far superior percentage.

Best for Woorndoo/Mortlake in the win were Ed Gubbins, Sam Gervasoni, Matthew Pemberton, Jack Spokes and Darcy Graham.

Spokes and Kane Maghamez kicked four goals each for the Tigers, with Gubbins and James Coghlan West kicking two each.

Wickliffe/Lake Bolac had a dominant win in the reserves, 11.17.83 to 1.3.9.

Tahi Pompey, Mark Jones and Charlie Carmody were best for Woorndoo/Mortlake in the loss.

Wickliffe/Lake Bolac was too strong in the under 16.5 football, recording an 8.10.58 to 1.5.11 win.

Mason Dale, Emmet Sheaves and Nicholas Krepp were best for the junior Tigers, with Gus Carmody kicking the only goal.

In line with the club’s senior football team, Woorndoo/Mortlake’s A grade netball team has also narrowly missed finals despite a strong final round win.

The A grade Tigers finished the season in sixth position after the 62-19 win, two points shy of fifth placed Glenthompson/Dunkeld.

“We finished earlier than the other game (Glenthompson/Dunkeld v Great Western), so we went and watched the footy while watching the scores closely,” Woorndoo/Mortlake coach Bec Rohan said.

“It was disappointing when the final result came through, but we were happy with our performance regardless of what happened at the other game.”

The Tigers led by 17 goals at half-time before really asserting their dominance in the second half.

“We were a little bit slow to start in the first quarter,” Rohan said.

“At half-time we spoke about really cracking down and finishing strongly which we did.”

Brooke Richardson was best on court and shot 41 goals in her final game of netball.

“Brooke has called her retirement, we really had to talk her into playing again this year.

“She’s a real role model who everyone in the club looks up to, she was brilliant shooting for goal on Saturday.”

Rohan also had Mia Richie and Jaime Killen in her best.

“Mia held up the defence really well, she is a standout on the team as our goal defence.

“Jaime is a real quiet achiever, her voice and communication on court is first rate.”

The B grade game saw a 40-21 win to Woorndoo/Mortlake.

Holly Trajcevski and Lily Schuuring were the Tigers best, with Schuuring scoring 30 goals.

Wickliffe/Lake Bolac had a 17-16 win in the C grade netball.

Annalise Abbott and Amelia Horan were best for Woorndoo/Mortlake, with Abbott scoring eight goals.

Wickliffe/Lake Bolac scored a 31-24 win in the 15 and under netball.

Natalie Krepp and Wynter Bradbury were best for Woorndoo/Mortlake in the loss.

Woorndoo/Mortlake’s 13 and under team registered an 18-14 win.

Paige Maddock scored 13 goals for the Tigers, with Lacey Killen best.

The young Tigers will now face Wickliffe Lake Bolac in this Sunday’s elimination final at Penshurst.

The game will start at 9am.
