Timboon celebrates Heart Week
STAFF at Timboon Medical Clinic are encouraging residents to book a heart health check during the month of May as a part of the Heart Foundation’s Heart Week initiative.

Heart Week is an annual awareness week which runs from May 5 – 11, however Timboon Medical Clinic are offering free heart health checks and promoting healthy heart behaviours for the entire month.
According to the Heart Foundation, heart disease is the leading cause of death in Australia.
Many heart attacks and strokes can be prevented through healthy behaviours like eating a healthy diet, being active, maintaining a healthy weight and being smoke-free.
A heart health check is a 20-minute check up with a doctor to help you understand your chance of having a heart attack or stroke in the next five years and discuss steps you can take to help lower the risk.
People aged 45-79 years, people with diabetes over 35 years and First Nations people over 30 years are most vulnerable to heart complications and are encouraged to make appointments.
“Heart Week is about ensuring our community are staying healthy,” Timboon Medical Clinic practice manager Katherine Gorringe said.
“The patient receiving the heart health check spends time with both the nurse and the doctor to check their health and lifestyle risks.”
Patients are encouraged to book in for a free heart health check by calling 5558 6088 to book an appointment.
