Woorndoo lose to Ecklin
WOORNDOO had a rain affected loss in its round eight Colac-South West premier cricket match against Ecklin on Saturday.
The Tigers won the toss and elected to bat in the match played on the turf wicket at the Port Campbell Recreation Reserve.
Woorndoo was all out for 138, dismissed in the 37th over.
Tyler Schafer top scored with 27 from 28 balls, hitting five boundaries.
Opener Thomas Gray worked hard for his 22 from 49 balls, while Damien Clifford contributed 20 from 22 balls down the order.
Jarryd Walsh took the early wicket of opener Harry Carter for no score to have Ecklin at 1/1, before the Frogs gained control with a couple of strong partnerships.
When rain stopped play after 21.1 overs, Ecklin was 6/127, a score which gave the Frogs the win under the Duckworth/Lewis system.
Walsh was the best of the Woorndoo bowlers, finding the Port Campbell wicket to his liking with 4/17 from eight overs.
Tyler Mungean and Clifford also took a wicket each in the loss.
This week Woorndoo travel to Alvie for its round nine match against the Swans.
In division three, Woorndoo batted first against Boorcan at Woorndoo, making 8/152 from its 40 overs.
George Pern top scored with 65 retired from 101 balls, hitting eight boundaries, while Brendan Mahncke made 51 from 60 balls, hitting five fours and a six.
That was where the game ended as the rain set in.
This week the division three Tigers host Cobden at Woorndoo.
